This study examines the influence of residents' characteristics with respect to household composition, life-style, attitudes, social cohesion, security measures and the personalization of their properties. Although to varying degrees these factors influence the incidence of burglary it would appear that they are by and large secondary to factors such as location, accessibility and site configuration.
