A goal and objective statement provides direction to the design process. This article uses a sociological review of suburbia, a study of altitudes towards the importance and satisfaction with aspects related to the residential area, and a review of goals and objectives in nineteen design guides to develop a statement of goals and objectives which can be used in the design of residential road networks.
