About the Journal

Focus and scope
Town and Regional Planning is a South African accredited journal dedicated to independently reviewed research on town, urban, and regional planning. The journal publishes peer-reviewed Review Articles, Research Articles, Perspective Articles, and Book Reviews. Manuscripts should be written in a clear, accessible style, suitable for both specialists and non-specialists. The format for these categories can be found in the Guidelines to Authors.  The journal is endorsed by the South African Council for Planners (SACPLAN)  the statutory body that regulates the planning profession in South Africa.

Frequency 
The journal is published biannually by the University of the Free State. The second issue is often a special issue, curated by a guest editor. 

Fees
There are no submission fees or article-processing charges.

Open access
As a Diamond Open Access journal, all content is freely available to users without charge. Readers can freely access, download, copy, distribute, print, or link to the full texts of articles for lawful purposes without seeking permission from the publisher or author.

Archiving
Articles published in Town and Regional Planning are digitally archived on the journal's website, the National Library of South AfricaKovsieScholar and AJOL Open Access Titles. Content within KovsieScholar is preserved through DuraSpace, a global leader in digital preservation. While archival versions are not publicly accessible via DuraSpace, they are provided under specific conditions, such as collection discontinuation or website failure.
