Guest editor's note: The right to development in Africa and natural resources ownership

Abstract

This special edition of the Journal for Juridical Science is the outcome of the Third International Conference on the Right to Development that took place at the University of the Free State in September 2019, hosted by the Free State Centre for Human Rights, in collaboration with the Centre for Human Rights, University of Pretoria, and the Thabo Mbeki African Leadership Institute, University of South Africa. The selected articles present some exciting viewpoints for reflection on the very important, but often overlooked subject of the right to development and the requirement of natural resources ownership for its realisation.
