Abstract

As the first head of the Department of Missiology in the Faculty of Theology UOFS, Prof. J. H. Smit established a missiological approach whereby mission is especially understood as the growth of the congregation (church) and thus connected to the ministry of the congregation. This approach and contribution of Smit is reviewed in this article.
